IVM Milieubeheer
IVM Milieubeheer is an intermunicipal organisation in East Flanders that organises and implements waste and environmental policy for a group of municipalities. Its responsibilities include waste collection, processing and recycling, while focusing on sustainable solutions such as energy recovery from waste and the circular use of raw materials to keep the living environment clean and future-oriented.
A new visual identity, a new structure: how Paddle helped IVM Milieubeheer evolve
IVM Milieubeheer had been using the Paddle CMS for several years. When the renewed communications team wanted to launch a new visual identity, it immediately took the opportunity to thoroughly review the site’s structure as well.
Research as the foundation
The project did not start with design, but with data. A thorough analysis of existing user behaviour via Matomo Analytics, supplemented by an online survey, revealed what visitors truly needed. These insights were translated into clear top tasks, a new information structure and a homepage concept that starts from the user — not from the organisation.
From concept to concrete implementation
Navigation, landing pages, detail pages: everything was reworked, with the new visual identity integrated into the existing Paddle CMS. But the real added value went beyond a visual refresh. Content logic, findability, editorial workflows, training — everything was taken into account so the renewed team could start working independently with the platform right away.
The result: a fresh look, a stronger structure
The renewed website puts visitors’ most important needs first: finding information quickly, navigating effortlessly and handling more matters online. A waste calendar, sorting guide, recycling park information, forms and reservations — all are made intuitively accessible through strong landing and detail pages, now also visually aligned with the new identity. From a functional and content perspective, we added a web form that is highly intuitive and thoughtfully structured. This reduces some of the pressure on customer service because citizens can ask their questions in a more targeted way. In addition, the relevant department only receives the requests that apply to them.
Internally, the project also provided a boost. Thanks to clear roles, targeted training and practical guides, IVM’s renewed communications team can manage content independently and continue optimising it.
The result?
A website that not only reflects IVM Milieubeheer’s new visual identity, but also fundamentally better meets visitors’ needs — built on a platform IVM has known and trusted for years.
